Our June was a warm and busy month but wowee we had some beautiful weddings!! Today’s blog post features Lilly and Ryans wedding at The Olmsted in Louisville Kentucky. I have been to The Olmsted a handful of times but this was our first wedding there and we absolutely loved it!
Lilly got ready at their home in St Matthews and Ryan got ready at his parents house and then we met up at St James for the Ceremony! St James Church is right in the highlands and is known for its beautiful interior and historic exterior. Lilly and Ryan decided to keep their day traditional and decided to not do a first look so the first time they saw each other on the day of the wedding was when she walked down the aisle!
Their reception took place at the Olmsted which is another classic and historic building right around the corner in St Matthews! I love the classic look of the inside of The Olmsted and the flexibility of the interior space of this venue! and the food?! SO GOOD!
What inspired your wedding day details?
Our aim was to be traditional, timeless, and elegant – while still having FUN! We really let the architecture and design of our church and reception space guide the rest of our choices for florals, colors, and accents. We wanted to really honor their beauty and let them shine, while still adding personal touches like matchbook escort cards, family photos, and corn husk dolls made by Lilly’s grandmother to honor our roots and our families coming together. ❤️
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Lilly – I loved our first dance and spending the morning getting ready and taking everything in with my bridesmaids and the moms! Ryan – watching Lilly walk down the aisle 🙂
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding?
Lilly – take your time, listen to your partner, ask for help, and remember that your day is for you and your partner – no one else! Honor that and the love you share in every decision you make. Also, choose vendors you trust to take care of everything. Ryan – give yourself lots of time
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
Lilly – seeing my brother get very emotional when he saw me in my dress – I wasn’t expecting that, and I cherish that photo! Ryan – the ceremony going by quickly
How was working with the NKP team?
Working with the NKP was such a great experience. Natalie was always there to answer our questions, and the team the day of took such great care of us – even asking what drink we wanted when we arrived to the reception! Our gallery captured so many little details and moments we will treasure for a lifetime!
