I hope you’re all having a wonderful day! I’m so excited to share Claire and Michael’s engagement session with you today. These two are just the sweetest, and their session at Keeneland in Lexington was absolutely perfect. Claire and Michael currently live in DC, but they were in Kentucky for a friend’s wedding and wanted to take advantage of their time here to capture some engagement photos at a place that was meaningful to Michael. Keeneland holds a special spot in his heart since he grew up in Louisville, and they thought it would be the perfect place to document this exciting chapter of their love story.
Keeneland is such a stunning location—historic, elegant, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. However, we were a little concerned when we arrived and realized there was a bit of a crowd due to a busy racing schedule. But we didn’t let that stop us! We navigated around the crowds and still managed to get some beautiful, intimate shots of Claire and Michael in the midst of it all.
Even though the track was bustling with activity, we were able to find some quieter spots among the gorgeous fall colors that were popping up around the grounds. The vibrant oranges and yellows of the changing leaves created the most romantic, autumnal backdrop for their photos, and I absolutely loved how the light played with the scenery. There’s something about fall in Kentucky that just feels magical—and it was the perfect time of year for an engagement session.
One of the best moments of their session came toward the end when a horse decided to photobomb us! Yes, you read that right—a horse photobomb. As Claire and Michael were sharing a quiet moment together, one of the beautiful horses at Keeneland wandered over and gave us the perfect shot! It was such a fun surprise, and I love that it adds a little personality and charm to their photos.
If you’re in Kentucky and haven’t visited Keeneland yet, I highly recommend it! Whether you’re a horse racing fan or just enjoy a beautiful, historic setting, Keeneland is a must-see. The gorgeous grounds, iconic architecture, and stunning views make it one of the best spots for photos, events, and even a day at the races.
