Today’s blog post is featuring the lovely Lilly and Ryan, and their engagement session at Crescent Hill Reservoir and The Olmsted. I’m so excited to share these gorgeous photos with you, because let me tell you, this session is full of romantic moments, stunning backdrops, and a couple that just radiates love. Plus, Lilly’s dress? Total showstopper. I have been on the lookout for a dress like that for a while, and when Lilly showed up in it, I immediately thought, “Okay, that’s going straight to my shopping cart!” It’s so elegant and timeless, just like the couple herself.
As a photographer, I always recommend that my couples wear complementary colors for their engagement session without being too “matchy-matchy.” Lilly and Ryan absolutely nailed this with their outfits, striking the perfect balance of coordinating tones while still allowing their personalities to shine through.
We started the session at the Crescent Hill Reservoir, a beautiful spot in the heart of Louisville that I absolutely love. The majestic stone structures, lily-pad covered water, and peaceful nature trails offer a mix of classic and romantic vibes—making it the perfect setting for an engagement shoot. There’s something so serene about this place, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the couple’s favorite spots.
After we wrapped up at Crescent Hill Reservoir, we made our way over to The Olmsted, where Lilly and Ryan will be tying the knot next June. This beautiful, historic venue is one of my absolute favorites in Louisville. If you haven’t seen it in person yet, trust me, it’s breathtaking. The neoclassical architecture, grand columns, and lush grounds make it feel like a storybook location, and every time I shoot there, I’m in awe.
It was so fun to be able to do a split-location session for Lilly and Ryan. Since they’ll be getting married at The Olmsted, it was important to capture some beautiful images at the venue, showcasing the architecture and the stunning garden areas. The contrast between the vibrant greenery and the stately architecture of The Olmsted adds a timeless elegance to the photos, and I can already picture how stunning their wedding day will be here next year.
I also love that June weddings hold a special place in my heart (I got married in June of 2015!). There’s something magical about that time of year—everything is in bloom, the days are warm but not too hot, and there’s this sense of new beginnings and celebration in the air. I know Lilly and Ryan’s June wedding will be filled with all of that and more.
