Happy Friday, friends! I’m beyond excited to share this special elopement with you today—Ruth and Grant’s breathtaking celebration in Maine! This wedding was a truly unique experience for me, marking my very first destination wedding and my first wedding in New England, which is extra special since it’s close to where I grew up. It was such a joy to be back in the area I know so well, and I’m happy to announce that I now offer reduced travel fees for all of New England, so I can keep visiting family and friends while capturing these unforgettable moments!
A Dreamy Start in New England
June 2022 was a whirlwind month, and Ruth and Grant’s elopement was one of the highlights! I flew into Boston a couple of days before the big day, catching up with old friends and family while also playing the tourist for a bit. I had the chance to stay at a beautiful mountain hotel with stunning views—honestly, it was a dream location and the perfect way to get in the elopement spirit!
A Stunning Ceremony with Mountains as a Backdrop
Ruth and Grant said their vows with the most breathtaking mountain views behind them. The setting was absolutely magical, with the crisp New England air and the soft light of the late afternoon sun creating the perfect atmosphere for their intimate ceremony. Ruth’s florals were a gorgeous mix of dried and faux flowers, which complemented the natural beauty around them while still feeling personal and intentional.
One of the things I absolutely loved about their ceremony was how their families played such an important role. Each set of parents shared a few heartfelt words with them, and then Ruth and Grant exchanged their own vows, creating a deeply meaningful and emotional moment for everyone present. It was such a beautiful, personal exchange.
A Sweet Surprise: A Pre-Wedding Celebration
Here’s the plot twist that really made this day stand out: Ruth and Grant had already gotten married a few months prior! In fact, their official wedding had taken place just a week after we’d done their engagement photos in Pennsylvania! They wanted to celebrate with their family and friends in Maine, so they kept it a secret and surprised everyone with the news. It made for a day full of love, laughter, and even a few happy tears—such a beautiful way to share the joy with their loved ones.
Donuts, Donuts, and More Donuts
One of my absolute favorite details of their celebration was the donuts. Instead of a traditional cake, Ruth and Grant opted for an amazing spread of donuts, and let me tell you, they were delicious. From classic favorites to creative flavors, every guest got to enjoy something sweet, but I think the strawberry donuts were definitely the showstopper. I still dream about them!
The celebration continued at a beautiful rental home in the mountains, where Ruth and Grant spent the evening surrounded by their closest family. There was so much joy, laughter, and love in the air—it was clear how much these two mean to everyone in their lives. I felt so privileged to be there, capturing every special moment.
Grateful for this Experience
Capturing Ruth and Grant’s elopement was truly an honor. From the stunning location to the intimate vows and surprise details, this day was full of love and unforgettable memories. I am beyond grateful to have been a part of it, and it was such a joy to revisit New England, where I grew up, and reconnect with the area while doing what I love.
Thank you, Ruth and Grant, for trusting me with your special day. I’m so excited to see where life takes you both!
